ATM, the new big THANG, Top 9 Malaysia Music Festival

Just a couple of friends here and there whom put a musical band together and came up with ATM. What's so special about them? They are monsters when it comes to their music and they made sure people know that. Their 1st performance at "Limkokwing Fashion Club" was... Oh well, see for yourself:

A combination of all sorts of music, from singers, rappers, beat boxers and instrument players. ATM caught people's attention faster than expected, well actually! I sort of expected it, they are just too fly =)...

Their 2nd performance at Halloween, still spoken of simply highlighted everyone's Halloween and the crowd loved it. Performing Rolling in the deep where they put their own twist to it & Thriller where they also put another twist to it, I can honestly say "ATM, you're so FLY!"...

ATM also appeared last night on HITZ.FM #MagicOfLimkokwing where Philo, Povilas, MJ and of course the one and only Jonah represented the crew. If you missed out, it will come up soon on Limkokwing's website.

Wow! There's just so much to say about ATM and it hasn't even been a month yet since they formed the band, that's how they do.

ATM is TOP 9 & currently top votes for Malaysia Music Festival, here are their auditions:

Please do vote, it counts. Let's put those boys on that big stage because they've grown together to own it =)...

Of course I'll say something, its been ELEVEN YEARS! (Miss Universe).

Yesterday was Miss Universe crowing and boy am I happy! .

Some people have asked me wondering why it was very important for me to keep to date with Miss Universe, I'll explain: Miss Universe is like football, I support and hope my team wins, in the pageant's case.. Its one of the very many games now a days women get to play the main role in and actually achieve a goal through

Why this year the excitement was extra spicy? A pure black African woman took the crown back home, Miss Angola.

Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011 - Angola.

Its been 11 years(1999) since not just an African woman was crowned Miss Universe but since a Black woman has been crowned Miss Universe.

I am extremely happy as I know every nation in Africa is probably celebrating her success in the pageant. Miss Angola is one gorgeous, beautiful smiley, powerful & intelligent woman and she deserved it like no other.

Best believe this woman is going places higher than Miss Universe.
I am dearly proud,
Congratulations.

The Albino Models - Gorgeous.

First of let me start by explaining what Albinism is:

Albinism is a genetic disease that causes loss of pigment/color within the skin, which results in making a person incredibly light skinned in all parts of the body including hair & eyes.

There are two "Albino Models" in the industry that are incredibly talented and gorgeous. Diandra Forrest & Shaun Ross They are my favorite for today and I just had to share.

Shaun appeared on the Tyra Banks show a few months back this year and other than struggling being an Albino child, he fought for his life after getting stabbed 7 times where each stab was 6 inches deep.

Diandra also struggled with peoples judgement & comments throughout her childhood, to the extent of violence at times.

Shaun & Diandra on The Tyra Banks Show.

Their story is quite inspiring, through all the struggles, look at them now, JUST GORGEOUS!

Slave Earrings on Vogue.it. Racist?

Vogue.it is favored by many & very popular within the fashion world, in fact its my personal favorite website.

Just the other Vogue.it posted a very... I'm not sure if racist is what they aimed for, knowing how much they appreciate and dedicate to black people on their site but about few days ago a post came up titled "Slave Earrings". Another Paparazzi website mediatakeout.com were the 1st to put light on the title of the post which you can view below:

After mediatakeout.com addressed Vogue.it on their site, fans of Vogue Italia and people that are dedicated to the magazine instantly started tweeting and commenting on the issue. Few hours ago Vogue made a public apology & also :-

Yes, they changed the title to Ethnic Earrings

Racist, or?

Let's put it this way: Vogue Italia has dedicated a whole page to black people title V Black where they have posted more than a much on the beauty of black people, not to mention they have also featured black women on the magazine quite a few times before. Vogue has recognized more than a few Black models every now and then, most recognized? Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, Alek Wek, Ajak Deng, Melody Monrose... etc..

They have also put light on more than a few black models/makeup artists/musicians/writers/hairstylists/designers/bloggers & the list goes on.

I think something went wrong with that title, but they weren't trying to be racist.

HMMMM! Creative Or?

Fashion Show Gone Wrong! A commercial for an anti-drinking campaign.

: S... Creative or?
I vote Creative.

A Male Model better Than a Female Model at Her OWN GAME? =/...

Over 6ft tall, at only 19 years old Australian model Andrej Pejic had people wondering "Who is the blonde girl modeling men's wear at Paris Men's show 2010?) Well news flash, HE'S A MAN.

Andrej Pejic carrying long blonde hair, very feminine features and also a striking catwalk on the runway didn't only have people wondering but got booked for two jobs by Jean Paul Gaultier.

I am a very big fan of different catwalks, its the 1st thing I notice on a model & yes, Andrej Pejic captures attention with his electrifying performance on the runway:

Not only on the Runway is Andrej Pejic a shock but his woman figure is quite fierce as well.

Check out the pictures below:

Aren't you looking forward to see more of Andrej Pejic? I know I am. =)

L.U.A.L x Nancy Chan x Slo - Letter To Dr. John Garang

Lual D'Awol, if you haven't heard the name, he's one of the few South Sudanese youth to express himself through music, to be more specific "Rap Music". The 1st song I heard by him titled: "Letter To Dr. John Garang" featuring Slo & Qwashi also from South Sudan really moved me. The chorus didn't just speak to Dr. John Garang but it spoke to everyone else as well.

Dr. John Garang was our fighter for freedom and is our strong link to keep fighting for what we believe in. Dr. John Garang didn't just inspire us but he spoke all of our minds when we had no voice. He brought the peace treaty to the table, although left us too soon & at a time when South Sudan needed him the most, his death brought strength to our hearts and minds, why? We had to give him that respect of making his dream come true. For South Sudan to become a nation & Baba Garang, I will gladly look up to the skies, smile & tell you: A New Nation Is Born.

For heroes, you can't really find much words to say, because their actions have spoken louder than any voice could. With that being said, Look down on South Sudan from Heaven Baba Garang, we know you and Jesus are walking by us.

Creativity In Motion back for another HEADLINER!

Last weekend Friday 22nd of July was Creativity in Motion Fashion Show case by Limkokwing University and I was a part of the show of course, I think this is my 5th Creativity in Motion and boy am I glad I did it again.

This was probably one of the best CIM Fashion Shows I've done. Its quite inspiring watching the rising student designers work hard for what they love and put so much effort to present their work to the public & at Bangsar shopping complex they definitely achieved the aim of the show, which is presenting CREATIVITY IN MOTION.

This time around the make up was quite unexpected and different yet topped our previous CIM shows, Smoky golden eyes & golden glitter splashed around the model's bodies, here is a clear sample of the make up.

One design caught my attention the most, the designer explained that the top was made out of paper and she added some fabric for detailing to come up with her final design, how creative can it get? The design opened the show where Nadine Ann Thomas Miss Universe Malaysia put a SHOW STOPPER with at the very beginning of the show ;)... Checkout the design below

The 2nd design that I probably LOVE was the one that I wore myself, the white garment by Bo Ren which I thought was modernly creative, he couldn't speak English well so I couldn't really get into details about the design but I understood that he was inspired by the industry today and he wanted to put his own touch into and I think he did very well. Thumbs up. (Bo Ren's design below).

Not to forget, the stunning closing performance by the one and only Jonah which was phenomenal, Well done to all whom were apart of the show, the fierce models, sound & music also the staff. YES! WE DID IT : ).

The Art That Black Beauty Creates...

The art that your, my and their color creates,
The art that only me and you can make,
The art that no one can fabricate,
The art that's most valued
because only in me and you its found.

The beauty that the all mighty created
The beauty that I value, appreciate and will always represent
The beauty that's so exotic that I find no words to be said
The beauty where you look in the mirrior & feel different,
not knowing the difference is that you stand out from the rest.

Realize that the foundation of your beauty is you,
Don't wait for someone to tell you
Know it for its true.

Do me a favor: Find a Mirror & say this out loud:
"I am a living piece of art because black is beauty".

I love black beauty, I carry it & never failed to proudly represent it, I want you to as well that's why I chose to share this poem with you, I wrote a while back & I read it several times a week, why? because I believe it. I hope you enjoyed.

p.s If you have any such poems, do share, I would love to read through.

Love,
Eva

Adidas all 24

With various performances by artists, models, designers, skaters, bikers, dancers and with an appearance from the gorgeous supermodel Amber Chia, it was a blast at Adidas all 24.

Everyone FOSHAW brought out the fierce in them but few stood out to me between all, 1st was a member of the recognized group "One Nation Emcees" Mimi, she ripped the stage apart with her fierce dance moves, I think everyone got very excited for that performance, it was one of the best of the night.
Enjoy the video below:

2nd killer performance were two of the most talented rising artists I know out there, Jonah and Ernie whom literally made my night.

Jonah a.k.a JOE-E

Ernie

& of course our own designers from Limkokwing University whom killed the styling and designs for Adidas all 24 2011 & competed to win the title all fashion Champion, Congratulations to both winners and to ME, Diana and Nadirah the models on the winning team yet honestly I think what was presented that day every single person won, creativity at its best.

Nadirah :) (Winner).

The Girls...

More of the Models, we actually had a mini
photoshoot with the bikers and their bikes...
lol, can't blame a model.

Attack on Darfur "Movie".

I recently watched the movie "Attack on Darfur" that was filmed in South Africa starring the famous actors Billy Zane, Edward Furlong, Kristanna Loken, Matt Frewer and Kazeem Kae-Kazim.

The movie is based on the genocide and Janjaweed activities that went on in Darfur. I had known about the war in Darfur of course but this movie opened to my eyes to what was really happening in Darfur. I only watched the 1st hour of the movie and could not continue watching, that's how horrible it was, not because I was scared but because I didn't want to know anymore. It was literally a massacre in the Sudanese state of Darfur that brought tears to my eyes.

They showed how the women were rapped which cut my heart into two halfs, they showed how the children were brutally murdered, how the men were instantly sent to death. Not just that but they were called "The living dead". The Janjaweed went around village by village murdering everyone brutally in result to what? "Race". Referring to themselves as "Arabs" & the victims as "Africans" and that they deserved death for that reason.

Yet what made me stop watching the movie was knowing that this happened before our eyes, before every Sudanese person's eyes and we couldn't do a thing, as one of chiefs mentioned in the movie "Why do you arrive after people have died to give help?" I asked myself the same question. Where were we?

If you haven't watched the movie "Attack on Darfur" do watch it, a heart breaking and conscious awakening movie.

Do Sizes Really Matter?

I have a friend who's a size 12 and believes she's less gorgeous than the smaller sizes and less fortunate with men because of her size. In her own words: I think people don't take me seriously because of my size and I lack confidence because I am a big girl, I tried to loose weight a couple of times but it is just a curse.

Well, I will start off by saying some of the most gorgeous women around the world are sizes 10 and 12 but that doesn't even matter because the actual question is "Do sizes really matter?" & Is it right to rate your beauty based on what size you are? or even rate your love life failures because you're big in size? I think not.

1st of all if a man cares or knows your size, that is NOT the man you want. It was not, never has been about what size you are, its called "keeping in shape". You think a size 2 is beautiful if not in shape? no, its unhealthy and a disease called anorexia. 2ndly a woman's beauty will never be based on what size she is as long as she has full confidence in her shape. Keeping in shape never meant being skinny, it means taking care of your body.

I believe if you feel like your body is out of shape, its an issue that can be solved yet when you feel like your less attractive because of your size, that is when the real problem appears and no one can help you but yourself. Confidence cannot be taught, you have to believe in yourself and the way you look.

My advise is: Simply "GET IN SHAPE" and if you are in shape you are as beautiful as God made you to be so gain some confidence and you have to do yourself. If he doesn't like your size "KICK HIS ASS TO THE CURVE".

Valentine's Day

So the Famous Valentine's day is just around the corner. I've been seeing everyone hyped up about the day, girls shopping for new dresses, gifts for the lovers, surprises for their lovers and all what people restrict themselves to be a must be done on Valentine's day. I was asked almost 20 times who my Valentine will be and if I am celebrating it, well why not? It is a day to celebrate exchanged love, but does it really have to be a boyfriend or a husband that I celebrate it with? or must it even be the person you're in love with? I don't think so.

I used to have the same mentality as everyone, that Valentine's day is to be celebrated with my loved one, the person I happen to be in love with but then I thought about it and I realized that if I'm celebrating a day that everyone should feel unconditional love for and my single friend is having a hard time coping through, I won't even be happy, would you? Sometimes we are not even in love with the person that we might be with so why celebrate such a special day with them only?

The definition of Valentine's day is "To celebrated exchanged love". I think we all should be able to celebrate it with whoever we carry love or care for whether its a boyfriend, friend, mother, sister, brother etc, simply whoever you have love for. What am I doing for Valentine's day? I will be with my photographer & his camera shooting at a studio and afterwards I am having dinner with my beloved friends and family because those are all people that I love and heart unconditionally.

If you are single on Valentine's day, No it is not a problem, or sad or what so ever others might tell you, call your friends, call your family and tell them you love them. Love is such a big beautiful word, and we are to share it with the world not one person in such a big world full of people that have all the love to give back.

Happy Valentine's Day to you in advance =).

SHOES!!!

2011 brought new features and duets in Fashion(Yes! Doesn't only happen with Music.) Just like Victoria's Secret collection for the Superbowl recently providing women with absolutely gorgeous jersey's ;).. I was searching around and found out that Converse and Marimekko have done their own magic on converse's new designs, check this out:

Converse and Marimekko shoes for 2011 of
Converse's design of footwear & Marimekko's print design.
I thought they did a great job.

An interesting one that caught my eye very fast was the Tom Ford that was actually released last year yet not very popular online as its included in the collection of this year 2011! You think you've seen Fashion get awkward? well check this out:

I would really love to know how this is suppose to be worn
but looks like men will be having a blast of Fashin this year ;)...

& One of my favorites of course put a smile on my face with this:

When does Christian Dior ever disappoint us?
That will be a "NEVER".. I am loving everything about it
yet I have seen this collection before at the
Christian Dior Fashion show earlier this year.
Gorgeousness!!

Entertainment Industry in Sudan...

Since the whole separation of Sudan idea came up and started getting popular, I heard more than 5 songs of Sudanese artists trying to express how they feel about but none got to me or touched me the way "Balad Elrejal" by Jesse Monster did. You know when you get goose bums listening to music that means something to you? I thought Jesse's song had the right words and the right melody to it. Check it out below.

Another beautiful, encourging achievement of someone I truly proud of  Wathig G Ali (1st Sudanese Actor to ever make it into Hollywood). I am so proud of this young man, I heard of him and saw him around facebook at a time then he made it into hollywood, PROUDLY SUDANESE! :)

And another one that I am very excited about. She's about to take Fashion into a whole other level, Ajak whom moved to Kenya then Australia and recently featured in "New Faces" VOGUE ITALIA! Can I get an Amen? Absolutely gorgeous, I am very proud of how far she's gone so far, true African beauty, just how I love it.

Check her out on Vogue "New faces" herehttp://www.vogue.it/en/vogue-black/new-faces/2010/04/ajak

Those are the movements that have been making me smile so far, if you know any, do share :).

"South Sudan Oyeee" - 7th.Feb.2011

I even lost track of time of how long South Sudan suffered, forever and a day maybe? Well today the president of Sudan accepted separation, you might not know what it feels like but its almost a birthday back home by now. Are Southern Sudanese Happy? As far as I know its Independence day for us so YES! Do I agree with the decision made? Lets just say its the best decision that also happens to be the worst, South Sudan is better off on its own yet of course no one wanted it to end this way.

The Glory goes to God 1st of all, then the one and only "Baba John Garang", I wish he was here to see this day actually happen, a day he fought for 21 years to make it possible and left us before he could see it. I believe today should be a dedication to the Great "Baba Garang" for no one fought this war more than he has and no one sacrificed as much as he did.

I really hope the people realize and understand that this step a lot have shed blood, fought, sacrificed and died for. "We wanted it, we got it, lets treat it with care, dreams, hope and love".

Lets share a Model's world: Lets call it a Fashionista's Bookclub ; )..

Well, all supermodels around the world are only human, beneath the glamor and high fashion lies a soul full of stories to tell, some have shared with through writing books and here are some I've personally read and recommend the fashionistas to read as well.

1st on my list is the 1st book I read about a Model that has been an inspiration from
day one. Ms. Alek Wek the International Sudanese Supermodel.
She shared the story of her life writing the book
From Sudanese Refugee to International Supermodel.

Desert Flower by the supermodel Waris Dirie.
You might have watched the movie but trust me the book is far more interesting
and detailed, highly recommend the book.

Follow The Model by Ms. J. Alexander the Runway Diva,
I haven't finished reading the book yet but I will tell you its a must read ;)..

& Finally one of the world's 1st Supermodels Janice Dickinson in
No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of The World's 1st Supermodel.
Nope, I haven't read the book yet but I already have it and starting soon =)...

If you have any more books by Model's on their lifestory, do share and recommend ;)..

Amir Luqman Designs

I was checking out blogs and new designs earlier on today and I came across this phenomenal design of a Malaysian National costume designed by a 25 year old International Malaysian designer Amir Luqman, it caught my eye so I had to share. Checkout the design below

The details, color and fabric looks amusing. Also worn by Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 Nadine Ann Thomas, she looked absolutely stunning.

I was curious enough to search out for his collection which I found very interesting on his website www.amirluqman.com, do checkout his website for more information ;).
